Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces salmon fillets (skin-on or skin-off)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For cooking
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option) Use maple syrup for a vegan alternative
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • to serve Fresh lemon wedges
  • for garnish Fresh herbs (like parsley or dill) Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, adding a splash of olive oil. You'll know it's ready when it shimmers slightly.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel to help achieve a nice sear.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard and honey. Coat the top of each fillet generously with this mixture.
Cooking
  1. Once the pan is hot, lay the fish in skin-side down if it has skin. You should hear a satisfying sizzle.
  2. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side to create a beautiful crust.
  3. Flip the fillets carefully, season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
Serving
  1. Remove the salmon from the heat and let it rest for a minute. Serve with fresh lemon wedges and a sprinkle of herbs.
