Method
Making the Pie Crust
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and sugar.
- Add the chilled cubes of butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Preparing the Filling
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
- Toss the apple slices in a large bowl with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes.
Assembling the Pie
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out one disk of dough on a floured surface to fit your pie plate.
- Place the crust in the pie plate, then fill it with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
- Roll out the second disk of dough and cover the filled pie, sealing the edges.
- Cut slits in the top for steam vents and sprinkle sugar on top.
Baking
- Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes or until bubbly and golden-brown.
