  • 1 cup ripe bananas (about 2 medium bananas, mashed) The riper, the better!
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted Feel free to use coconut oil for a dairy-free swap.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Optional Ingredients
  • ½ cup chocolate chips Optional, but highly recommended.
  • nuts or walnuts Optional for added texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a large bowl until smooth with a few lumps.
  3. Melt the butter and stir it into the mashed bananas to create a base.
  4. Add granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture and mix until glossy.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the banana mixture until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips or nuts if using and pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
