Ingredients

For the Apple Filling
  • 4 medium medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (lightly packed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for a thicker filling)
  • 1/4 cup raisins or walnuts (optional)
For the Cinnamon Roll Topping
  • 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing)
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing the dish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. If you're using cornstarch, add that as well.
Assembly
  1. Layer the apples in the bottom of the greased baking dish, spreading them evenly.
  2. Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and cut each roll into quarters. Sprinkle the roll pieces over the apples.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  2. Remove from the oven and drizzle the included icing over the top. Let it sit for about 10 minutes before serving.
