Preparation
- Start by slicing your French loaf into bite-sized cubes, about 1-inch pieces.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until it’s well combined.
- Toss the bread cubes into the custard mix. Let them soak for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cooking
- Combine sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a separate bowl.
- Heat a skillet and melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
- Using a slotted spoon, transfer soaked bread cubes into the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Once cooked, toss the warm bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while they’re still hot.
- Repeat until all bites are cooked and coated, then let cool slightly on a wire rack.

Notes
You can prepare the custard and bread cubes the night before and just cook them in the morning for a quick breakfast. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
