Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup rolled oats (or gluten-free oats if needed)
  • 2 cups almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey for a non-vegan option)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • a pinch salt
Toppings (optional)
  • Sliced bananas
  • Chopped apples
  • Pecans or walnuts
  • Dried cranberries or raisins
  • A dollop of yogurt

Method

Preparation
  1. Combine the rolled oats, almond milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Whisk everything together to ensure the oats are evenly coated with the flavors.
  3. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture starts bubbling gently.
  4. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring more frequently until the oats absorb the liquid and reach your desired consistency.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before transferring to tightly sealed containers.
