Ingredients

For the cookies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons finely ground Earl Grey tea leaves (about 3-4 bags)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) For added flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a spacious bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Consider adding vanilla extract at this stage for enhanced flavor.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, finely ground tea leaves, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, folding it in gently.
  6. Shape the dough into a log, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  7. Once chilled, slice the dough into ¼-inch rounds and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Sprinkle extra powdered sugar on top if desired before baking.
Baking
  1. Bake the cookies for about 12-15 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
  2. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
