Preparation
- Rinse your green beans under cold water and trim the ends.
- Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper; another with beaten eggs; and the last with breadcrumbs.
- Start heating the oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat; check oil temperature by dropping a breadcrumb into it; if it sizzles, it’s ready.
Coating the Green Beans
- Dredge each green bean in the flour mixture, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat in breadcrumbs.
- Ensure they are well-coated but not too thick.
Frying
- Once the oil is shimmering, drop the beans in batches, ensuring they’re not overcrowded.
- Fry them for about 3-5 minutes, turning occasionally until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove them and let them drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes
Fried green beans make an excellent appetizer or side dish! Serve alongside lemon aioli or ranch dressing for dipping. For a vegan version, use chickpea flour instead of eggs and find a plant-based breadcrumb. You can also make these in the air fryer for a quicker version. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
