Brownie Base
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) Walnuts or pecans work beautifully.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar until smooth and glossy.
  3. Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, and gently fold into the wet mixture.
  5. Add the nuts to the batter and mix until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking pan, spreading it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes.
  2. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center; it should come out with just a few moist crumbs.
  3. Let them cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
