  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast 1 packet
  • 1/2 cup milk (warm)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 zest orange
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice

Method
 

Preparing the Dough
  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast in a large mixing bowl and let it foam for a few minutes.
  2. Mix in melted butter, egg, orange zest, and salt until well incorporated.
  3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
  1. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Shaping the Rolls
  1. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  2. Drizzle melted butter and spread orange juice evenly over the surface.
  3. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into even pieces.
  4. Arrange pieces in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again until puffed, about 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Whisk together powdered sugar and a bit of orange juice and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
