  • 1 cup brewed coffee Any coffee you love will do—espresso adds a nice kick.
  • 0.5 cups sour cream Greek yogurt works well too.
  • 0.33 cups vegetable oil You can substitute with melted coconut oil for a twist.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Store-bought is fine, but homemade adds a lovely touch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Brew a fresh pot of coffee.
Mixing
  1. Slowly add the brewed coffee to the dry ingredients, followed by sour cream, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir gently until just combined.
Layering and Baking
  1. Pour about half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  2. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter.
  3. Spoon remaining batter over the caramel, then swirl in the rest of the caramel sauce.
  4. Bake the cake for about 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  5. Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
