Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari for a gluten-free option
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the Salmon
  • 4 fillets salmon skin-on or skinless
Optional Garnish
  • fresh chopped parsley or green onions

Method

Preparation
  1. Whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and grated lemon zest in a bowl.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel.
  3. Place the salmon in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring all sides are coated.
  4. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or up to an hour for deeper flavor.
Grilling
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Place the salmon skin-side down on the grill.
  3. Grill for about 6-8 minutes, or until grill marks appear.
  4. Gently flip the salmon halfway through if desired.
  5. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and has a caramelized exterior.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley or green onions before serving.

Notes

For an Asian flair, add a splash of sesame oil or a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat. This marinade also works with tofu and mushrooms. Pre-marinate the night before to save time.
