Ingredients

For the Croissants
  • 1 package Croissant dough (store-bought or homemade) Optional: Use whole wheat or gluten-free dough for a healthier twist.
  • 4-6 ounces Sliced ham Try smoked or honey ham for an extra flavor kick.
  • 4-6 ounces Cheese (such as Swiss, cheddar, or Gruyère) Feel free to mix your favorite cheeses!
  • 1 large Egg, beaten For egg wash, gives a beautiful golden finish.
  • Fresh herbs (optional, like thyme or chives) Add for an aromatic boost.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If you’re using store-bought dough, roll it out lightly on a floured surface until smooth and slightly stretched.
  2. Slice your dough into triangles, similar to pizza wedges.
  3. On the wide end of each triangle, place a slice of ham followed by a generous sprinkle of cheese and optional fresh herbs.
  4. Roll the dough gently from the wide end towards the tip, tucking it securely as you go, and curve the ends inward to shape it into a crescent.
  5. Place your croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they have room to expand.
  6. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until puffed and beautifully golden.
