Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and halved You can use either fresh or frozen strawberries.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional but adds aromatic flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse fresh strawberries and hull them, then slice them in half. If using frozen strawberries, no need to thaw.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the strawberries and sugar. Stir gently to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Cook until the strawberries release their juices and the mixture turns into a rosy syrup. Once simmering gently, add the lemon juice.
  4. Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens. The strawberries should be tender but retain some shape.
  5. For a smoother consistency, mash the strawberries or use an immersion blender if desired.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract (if using). Allow to cool before serving.
