Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound chicken thighs or breasts (boneless, skinless) Feel free to substitute with tofu for a vegetarian option.
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (can use low-sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (grated) Alternatively, use 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil (optional) Use for extra flavor.
Garnishes
  • Green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. Slice the chicken into bite-sized pieces to help it cook faster.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add a splash of oil if using.
  2. Once the pan is hot, add the chicken pieces in a single layer. Cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  3. While the chicken is cooking, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic in a small bowl.
  4. After the chicken is golden, pour the sauce mixture over the meat. Stir well to coat and let it bubble for another 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Ensure chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F), then remove from heat and let it rest for a minute.
Serving
  1. Serve the chicken hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For added brightness or heat, consider a squeeze of lime or red pepper flakes. Use pre-made stir-fry veggies for quicker prep, or substitute firm tofu for chicken for a vegetarian version. Adjust cooking time as needed.
