  • 1 pound ground beef Can be substituted with turkey or plant-based meat.
  • 8 ounces pasta Any shape you like.
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes Or crushed for a smoother texture.
  • 2 cups beef broth Vegetable broth can be used for a lighter option.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Or herbs de Provence.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the olive oil. Once warmed, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and stir for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef and break it up with a spatula. Cook until nicely browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Once the beef is browned, pour in the diced tomatoes, broth, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir well.
  2. Add the pasta directly into the pot and stir well. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and the sauce has thickened.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve in bowls topped with fresh basil or parsley.
