Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 package pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup pizza sauce jarred or homemade
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese or substitute with a cheese of choice
  • 10-12 slices pepperoni or your favorite toppings
  • to taste leaves fresh basil for a fresh touch
  • as needed tablespoon olive oil for brushing
Optional Seasonings
  • to taste Italian seasoning for added flavor
  • to taste crushed red pepper flakes for added spice
  • to taste garlic powder for an aromatic touch

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. If using store-bought pizza dough, gently stretch it out on a floured surface to create a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Spread a generous layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  5. Overlap the pepperoni slices slightly in a row toward one edge of the rectangle.
  6. Optionally sprinkle Italian seasoning on top for extra flavor.
Assembly
  1. Fold the pizza dough gently, one section at a time, creating one-inch folds to form a pleated look.
  2. Carefully cut the folded rectangle into strips about 1-1.5 inches wide.
  3. Take one strip and roll it from one end to create a rose shape.
  4. Place each rose in a muffin tray, standing upright.
  5. Drizzle a little olive oil over the top and sprinkle with garlic powder if desired.
Cooking
  1. Bake the muffin tin in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the roses are golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
