  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk or buttermilk for a tangier flavor
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water added carefully

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well incorporated.
  3. Add in the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  4. Slowly add the boiling water while blending on low speed. The batter will be thin.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pans, making sure they are evenly filled.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
