  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup beef broth Optional for richer sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For thickening the sauce.
  • 3 pieces green onions, sliced For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
  2. In a slow cooker, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix thoroughly until sugar dissolves.
  3. If using, add beef broth to the mixture.
Cooking
  1. Place the sliced beef into the slow cooker, ensuring it's submerged in the sauce.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender.
  3. About 30 minutes before serving, mix cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry and stir it into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
  4. Serve over warm rice or noodles, topped with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
