  • 1 lb brisket, cut into small cubes (chuck roast can work too)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper diced (red or green)
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes, with juices (15 oz each)
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed (15 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups beef broth (or vegetable broth for a lighter option)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (to balance acidity)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Chop your onion and bell pepper while waiting for the oil to heat.
  3. Once hot, add the onion and bell pepper, stirring occasionally until softened (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Introduce the cubed brisket, cooking until browned on all sides.
Cooking
  1. Add the canned tomatoes, beans, and all spices—chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, oregano, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  2. Stir well and allow the flavors to blend for a couple of minutes.
  3. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and add brown sugar, stirring again.
  4. Bring to a light boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for at least an hour.
  5. Stir occasionally and adjust consistency according to preference.
Serving
  1. Adjust seasoning to your liking and serve hot.
