  • 1 can (15 oz) strawberry pie filling (or 2 cups fresh strawberries, diced) Use fresh strawberries for a more natural taste.
  • 1 box yellow cake mix Any brand will work.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup coconut Optional, for added texture.
Optional Toppings
  • to taste whipped cream Great for serving.
  • to taste ice cream Best served warm.
  • to taste fresh strawberries For a fresh garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Gather your ingredients and wash and chop fresh strawberries, if using.
Assembly
  1. Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom of a baking dish.
  2. Pour the dry cake mix over the strawberries without worrying about even distribution.
  3. Drizzle the melted butter on top of the cake mix to cover it as best as possible.
  4. If you are using coconut, sprinkle it on top for added texture.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbling along the edges.
  2. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes
