  • 1 box 15.25 oz yellow cake mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
For the Cream Cheese Swirl
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Strawberries
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional) Depending on the sweetness of strawberries
Optional Toppings
  • Whipped cream For serving
  • Additional sliced strawberries For serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Beat the mixture until smooth and slightly thick.
  3. Pour about half of the batter into the prepared dish.
Cream Cheese Swirl
  1. In another bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until creamy.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter. Use a butter knife to gently swirl it into the batter.
Add Strawberries
  1. Sprinkle the sliced strawberries evenly over the cream cheese layer, then cover with the remaining batter.
Baking
  1. Slide the cake into the preheated oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into squares.

Notes
