  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup can substitute with cream of chicken or a homemade version
  • 1/2 cup milk can be dairy or plant-based
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, corn, carrots)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mixture)
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional garlic powder, onion powder, or spices of your choice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked meat, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and mixed vegetables. Stir until blended smoothly. Add garlic or onion powder if desired.
  4. Pour the meat mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top, layer the tater tots evenly, and finish with the remaining cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 45 minutes, until tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
Serving
  1. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
