Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk (or any milk substitute) Can use dairy-free alternatives.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Can substitute with other extracts like almond or lemon.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
