Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream or ube ice cream for a stronger flavor
  • 1 cup whole milk or your favorite plant-based milk for a vegan twist
  • 1/2 cup ube halaya sweet purple yam puree, available in Asian markets
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, for added warmth
  • to taste whipped cream for topping
  • to taste purple sprinkles or crushed ube chips for garnish, optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients to make the process flow smoothly.
  2. In a high-powered blender, combine vanilla ice cream, milk, and ube halaya. If desired, add a splash of vanilla extract.
  3. Blend on high for about 30 seconds, until the mixture is creamy and thick. If too thick, add a splash more milk to reach the desired texture.
  4. Pour the ube milkshake into tall glasses. Top each glass with whipped cream, and optionally sprinkle with purple sprinkles or crushed ube chips.
