Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option) Use maple syrup as a substitute for a vegan dish.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 juice lime
  • to taste salt and pepper
For the Fish
  • 4 portions firm white fish (like cod, tilapia, or halibut)
  • optional green onions for garnish Chopped green onions can be used for garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, honey, sesame oil, and lime juice to create a marinade.
  2. Place the fish in a shallow dish or resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. If short on time, a 10-minute soak will suffice for flavor absorption.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill or pan on medium heat.
  2. Remove the fish from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off, and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the fish for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Transfer the fish to a serving plate and drizzle with any leftover marinade for added flavor.
  5. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
