Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 cups popcorn (popped, preferably air-popped) Preferably air-popped for a healthier option.
  • 1 package of Kool-Aid (any flavor) Cherry or lemonade are great choices!
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda This adds a little crispness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt Optional for extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Pop your popcorn using an air popper and keep it warm in a large bowl.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
  3. Once melted, add the granulated sugar, Kool-Aid powder, and baking soda. Stir until the sugar dissolves and it turns into a glossy syrup.
  4. Allow the mixture to bubble for about 2-3 minutes until it starts to thicken slightly, then remove from heat to cool slightly.
  5. Pour the Kool-Aid syrup over the popcorn and gently fold the popcorn until evenly coated.
  6. Spread the coated popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it cool for 15-20 minutes until set.
  7. Break the cooled popcorn into bite-sized pieces.
