Doughnut Base
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or alternative flours for gluten-free options
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar plus extra for coating
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup milk or a dairy-free alternative
  • 1/4 cup melted butter or coconut oil for a dairy-free option
Optional Toppings
  • powdered sugar for dusting
  • chocolate glaze
  • cinnamon sugar

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, blending until you have a thick batter.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to around 350°F (175°C).
  2. Shape the doughnuts using a donut cutter or two different sized round cookie cutters. Alternatively, drop spoonfuls of batter for mini doughnuts.
  3. Place the shaped doughnuts in the air fryer basket, ensuring they have space between them for even cooking.
  4. Air fry for about 5-6 minutes or until they are golden and cooked through.
  5. Coat them in granulated sugar, cinnamon sugar, or your favorite glaze while they’re still warm.
